Intex Metal Frame Pool Information

This site was developed to provide the UK market with information on Intex Pools

1.) What sizes are available?

Intex distributes 15'x36", 15'x42", 18'x48", and 24'x48" round Metal Frame Pools. A 12'x24'x48" rectangular Metal Frame Pool is also available.

2.) Are extra lock pins included in the frame pool packages?

Yes, 2 extra pins are included.

3.) Are replacement liners and frame parts available to purchase?

Yes. All parts for the frame pools are replaceable.

4.) Can I set the pool up on a concrete patio?

Yes. A ground cloth is highly recommended. Do not drag the liner across the concrete, as abrasions will cause holes. The surface must be level, smooth, and stable.

5.) How do I drain the pool?

1. Remove the cap from the drain valve on the outside of the pool wall.
2. Attach the female end of the hose to the hose adaptor.
3. Place the other end of the hose in an area where the water can be safely drained.
4. Attach the hose adaptor to the drain valve. Note: water will start to drain immediately.
5. Disconnect the hose adaptor when you are finished.
6. Replace the drain plug on the inside of the pool for storage.
7. Replace the drain cap on the outside of the pool.
8. Be sure the pool liner is completely dry before long term storage.

6.) How high can I fill the pool?

Up to the fill line which is approximately 80% full, or check your pool box for a drawing thatshows more detailed filling information.

7.) What is the approximate water depth of the frame pools?

15'x36" = 29", 15'x42" = 34", 18'x48" = 40", 24'x48" = 40', and the rectangular pool 12'x24'x48" = 39".

8.) Approximately how many gallons of water does the pool hold?

15'x36" = 2,762 gal., 15'x42" = 3,507 gal., 18'x48" = 5,582 gal., 24'x48" = 9,951 gal., and the rectangular pool 12'x24'x48" = 7,755 gal.

9.) Does the ladder and/or cover come with the pool?

It depends on which package was purchased. Be sure to read the retail box prior to purchasing.

10.) What material is the pool liner made of?

It is made with 3 separate layers of material for extra strength and durability - two outer layers of heavy gauge PVC laminated to an inner layer of polyester mesh for extra reinforcement. 15' pools have a 16 gauge floor with 25 gauge walls, 18' and 24' pools have a 24 gauge floor with 30 gauge walls. 1 gauge is equivalent to 1/1000 of an inch.

11.) How many seasons should the pool last?

It depends on usage, maintenance, and care. Consistent maintenance and proper storage of your pool in the off-season will prolong its useful life.

12.) Without measuring, how do I know what size circular (round) frame pool I have?

Count the number of legs. Example: 15' = 15 legs, 18' = 18 legs.

13.) How do you get the last joint to fit together with the other beams on the round frame pool?

Lift the last two beams up to a height where the beams can be inserted into the joint at an angle.

14.) Can the pool be set up on a slope?

The ground must be level. If the pool is set up on ground that is not level the water will shift to one side and create stress on the pool frame.

15.) Can sand be used to level the ground at the pool site?

No. Sand has a tendency to shift, therefore causing the pool to lean to one side, creating stress on the pool frame. The legs of the pool will also sink into the sand and the pool will become unstable.

16.) Is there a repair patch enclosed for liner repair?

Yes, small tears or holes can be repaired with the enclosed repair patch. The surface should be dry before affixing the patch.

17.) Is it safe for my pets to play in the pool?

No. Dogs, cats, and all other household pets should be kept away from the pool to avoid possibly becoming trapped inside and to protect the structural integrity of the pool (There is a risk of the sidewalls becoming punctured by pet claws and teeth).

18.) Does my Intex pool carry a factory warranty?

Only the filter pumps have a one-year warranty. This warranty is included in the filter pump manual. For items other than filter pumps, most retailers will accept the return of any factory defectives, if you return the item within a reasonable time after purchase. If the retailer will not accept your return, Intex does have a service program that covers any manufacturing defects within the first 90 days from the date of original purchase. The product must be returned to Intex along with a copy of the dated sales receipt, your name, address, telephone number, and a brief note explaining the reason for the return. It is suggested that you ship the product to Intex using a traceable shipping method. Intex will not be responsible for products lost in transit. The consumer is responsible for the shipping cost to Intex.

19.) Will Intex issue a refund for manufacturing defective products?

Any refund requests must be made to the original place of purchase.

20.) Is a fence enclosure required by law?

Some cities and towns require owners of certain types of pools, based on size and depth, to fence in their property. Check your local city ordinance.

21.) Is a video available to show how to set up the pool?

A video or CD is included in all pool packages.

22.) What is needed to prepare a site for the pool?

A level surface is needed and all sharp objects must be removed. A ground cloth or tarp should be placed under the pool prior to setting it up. Also, an RCD Protected Socket must be available.

23.) How do I prevent the pool from damaging grass, or from fungi developing on the concrete?

It is not possible to prevent grass or lawn damage under the pool. Keep this in mind when selecting your site for set up. Keep the grass and concrete as dry as possible by mopping up excess splashed water after each use in order to minimize fungal growth.

24.) Can the pool be left up year-round?

It depends on where you live. It is not recommended to keep your pool up if your temperature falls below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The pool may freeze and cracking could occur. Intex pools are not designed to withstand the weight of ice and snow.

25.) Does the liner require any special care to ensure durability?

Keep sharp objects out of the pool or from underneath the pool, maintain proper pH levels, and keep the pool sanitary and clean.

26.) How much does it cost to fill the pool with water?

It varies across the U.K. Contact your local water company for cost information.

27.) How often should the water be changed?

It varies depending on usage and chemical balance. If properly filtered and chemically balanced, it should last through a summer season. You can reduce the need for water changes by keeping your pool covered when not in use, testing the water regularly to ensure proper chemical balance, operating the pump for an adequate number of hours each day, keeping the filter pump cartridge clean, and replacing the cartridge when needed.

28.) Do you recommend using pool chemicals? If so, what kind?

Yes. Contact us and provide the estimated number of gallons of water in your pool.

29.) Would excessive pool chemicals affect / cause deterioration to liners?

Excessive or concentrated chemicals may cause damage to any pool, as well as to the user.

30.) How do UV rays affect the materials that comprise the pool?

All PVCs degrade over prolonged exposure to excessive sunlight. Intex pools are manufactured with UV inhibitors to delay the degradation caused by sunlight.

31.) How do you clean dirt from the pool floor?

Pool vacuums can be used to clean pool floors.

32.) What should I use to clean my pool before storing it for the winter?

Mild soap and water. Thoroughly rinse and make sure the liner is dry before storing.

33.) How long does it take to fill the pool with water?

2 or more hours, depending on which pool, hose size, and water pressure. Remember to observe the fill up process for several minutes to make sure that the pool is filling evenly and the surface is level.

33.) Is it safe to jump or dive into the pool off of a ladder or any type of platform?

No. Under no circumstances should anyone jump or dive into the pool. Intex does not distribute any pools that are deep enough to allow such activity. Serious injury or death could result from failure to follow these rules.

34.) Do I need to keep safety and rescue equipment on hand near my pool?

You should always have standard safety equipment on hand in the immediate pool area. Recommended items are (but not limited to) an approved ring buoy with reinforced rope, a standard first aid kit, a blunt ended metal or hard plastic rescue pole, telephone numbers of local authorities, and emergency procedure information.

35.) Why do I find algae in my pool even when I run my filter pump regularly?

The pump and filter alone will not prevent algae from growing in the pool water. This can only be done by maintaining proper chlorine and pH levels at all times.
